The Stabilizer is a composite breed established by Leachman Cattle Company, based on research done by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Meat Animal Research Center.
The blend of Angus, Simmental, Gelbvieh, and South Devon in the Stabilizer combines the fleshing ability, marbling, and moderate size of the British breeds with the muscle, milk, and growth of the Continental breeds.
The research shows that hybrid vigour has a large impact on the productivity of beef cattle. There are multiple benefits including optimal milk production, better body condition, faster re-breeding, and a longer productive lifetime.
Multi-breed composites were developed by researchers to overcome the complicated mating systems required to maintain the hybrid vigour effect in crossbreeds. As a 4 breed composite, the Stabilizer will retain 75% of the [F1] hybrid vigour through future generations.
Time tested results and the endorsement of industry leaders made the Stabilizer an obvious choice for Gilbrea Farm. Our herd of Stabilizers have proven to offer balance with no compromises, and add profit to our bottom line.
